Custom T.D. Archtop Semi  5 String Bass

A bespoke semi acoustic archtop 5 string bass  that was designed to meet the clients specific ergonomic needs whilst acoustically delivering a warm acoustic amplified sound. Whilst design aspects like scale access, body bevels and weight were all paramount of equal importance was its aesthetic beauty. Details like custom tuner buttons and tailpieces are amongst the many functional and striking features of this instrument. Needless to say this was a challenging design and build but hugely satisfying result.

Neck: Figured Maple/figured Sapele with light weight titanium truss rod and proprietary carbon beams with sculpted heel.

Scale Length: 34 in/863.6mm

Fretboard: West African ebony with red abalone block inlays

Body Top:  Carved big leaf flamed maple top,

Back/Sides: Big leaf flamed maple

Body Bindings: Flamed Tasmanian blackwood

Arm and knee Bevels: Matching flamed Tasmanian blackwood for front and rear.

Head Veneers/Truss Rod Cover: West African ebony face with flamed Tasmanian blackwood rear cap

Control Knobs: Hand made maple/matching flamed maple with matching red abalone position inlays.

Electronics: Aguilar DCB dual coil pickups with passive controls.

Tuners: Hipshot Ultralite tuners with in house custom ebony tuner buttons.

Bridge: ETS Germany

Tailpieces: Mallia custom single tailpieces
